Spring Break Hiking

One spring break adventure was hiking up in Maggie Valley, NC.  This particular walk was just over 1.0 mile long, and it turns out that the kids have only about 1.0 mile of endurance.  Nevertheless, I loved the way the woodsy walk meandered through foggy, tunnel-like paths.  Drops of a recent rain dripped from branches and punctuated the muffled, mysterious stillness as our shoes silently tread on the spongy pine-needle carpet.  I felt like we were in an enchanted fairytale forest, intrepidly charging through the mist armed only with awesome sticks the kids found on the ground.  Eventually, we burst out into the sunlight and the beautiful scenic overview!  This was the best 1.0 mile walked all spring!
He we are with Seiler and Landen. Thanks for inviting us, cousins!
The enchanted forest gave Xander a sudden burst of Herculean strength!
Tiny walked almost the whole way.  Not quite.  We'll keep practicing on that.
"Yeah, I've got my head in the clouds. It's spring break!"
Guy says, "Surely we can get higher than this!?"
