Silky Pasta Cache

This week I picked up these $181.72 worth of groceries for $21.48, which is to say I paid 11.8% of shelf-price or saved 88.2%. I use www.pocketyourdollars.com to get my shopping list.

So, here you'll see 26 boxes of pasta (and I'm happy to report that my kids will eat this...most is whole wheat pasta), 5 half-gallons of silk, 8-10 # of boneless-skinless chicken breasts, 5 4-packs of yoplait delight (a two-day supply for our house), 4 bottles of listerine (the kind that help kids see buildup by staining it blue), 2 packs chocolate chips, 5 # whole wheat flour (I decided to compare to my home-ground flour), 1 gallon milk, 5 boxes oatmeal, 10 cans of chunky campbells soup, stovetop stuffing, tampons, 2 packs of trident gum, and some laxative (not on sale, but someone needed it.)

This shopping load gives me chance to disagree with those of my pals who don't use coupons because "they are only for unhealthy processed foods". Coupons are for popular foods, and now that whole wheat pasta, 100-calorie packs, soymilk, oatmeal and healthy snacks are popular, that's what I find in coupons. Perhaps the oatmeal and canned soup are more processed than my home-made versions, but for the price (they were free) I am totally willing to feed it to my kids. They're having soup in lunchboxes today, actually (hail the fabulous Thermos funtainer.)

I am particularly jealous of your goods! I haven't had as much luck finding coupons for healthy popular items like Silk and whole wheat pasta. Way to go!
