Zoe Makeover

Zoe was playing with her friend, Seth, the other day. She got the idea in her mind that she should also be a boy so they could be guy pals. She put on her brother's soccer uniform, got a pair of scissors, and started to trim her hair (right in front), in an attempt to get a boy haircut. Rrrgh.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind at all if she's a tomboy (I was a tomboy, too, right Mom?). But, I'm hoping to convince her that she can be sporty and muddy and still wear dresses in the summer and have long hair, etc. By the way, that's my formula for girl clothes: dresses all summer, pants all winter. With the weather here, why would you do anything else?

So I took her to the nearby cosmetology school, where services are darn cheap, and we had a fun makeover day. She had a haircut (with some layers to attempt to blend the self-inflicted bits), curls, and nail polish. I was sad they were too busy to give me highlights and haircut on myself...it's extremely tough to find a few hours away from all the kids to get things like that done.

I did get my hair trimmed back in May, though...so maybe that will last me a little longer. Zoe doesn't know that the boys envy her because she (and I) can skip haircuts for months if we so choose. Yes, tomorrow will be chop shop day here so the boys can get fancied for school to start on Wednesday.
