VACATION LESSON 3: Make a bucket list.
Before this summer, "vacation" meant going to grandma's house, exploring and doing activities in her town, and coming home. Now that we've tried something a little different (renting a beach house!), I'm starting to open my mind to all the fun things I could do with the kids...and simultaneously I'm realizing that I only have SEVEN more summers with Xander before he graduates. I got to thinking...what are the seven family adventures we most want to do? Let's dream them, plan them, hang a list of them on the wall, and then make sure it happens! (Grandma, we still plan to visit you, too!)
We have only just started brainstorming, but the boys want to go whitewater rafting (we went river tubing in NC with Dacy...and now they're dreaming big), rent a motorhome, and go to Hawaii someday. If we start now, we can save up for Hawaii in seven years. I'm searching for awesome adventures close to home, so that every year our summer trip is not a bank-buster.
