This is Thriller

I sort of think that kids who are going to have nightmares are going to find SOMEthing to have nightmares about, even if you keep them sort-of sheltered.

Guy has been having nightmares about zombies for a few MONTHS now. Did he see a movie with zombies? No. Did he read a book about zombies? No. Did someone tell him a scary story about zombies? No.

BUT - in Phy. Ed. at school (months ago), his class learned some of the choreography set to the music of Michael Jackson's "Thriller". Now each night as he lays down...that's what he thinks about. Sad sad. I have not yet decided to tell the phy. ed. teacher (who I think is a great and motivating and creative teacher in general) that her idea was stinky.

I tried to have reassuring conversations with him about the fact that zombies are not real, and isn't it silly and fun to sometimes invent creatures for stories... but the conversations were not as helpful as I hoped.

He spends a lot of nights falling asleep in my bed, and then I transfer him to his own. I just hope he grows out of it soon and has dreams filled with fun things instead. I'll just have to be sure that during family "fun dance" time, I don't bust out any Michael moves.
