Shoulder Update

At the health club where I work, they recently had an open house with guest speakers on several topics, one which was Shoulder Pain. I went in and asked the shoulder-specialist PTs about my funny joints.

They said that there really are no ropey tendons that could roll out of place, so probably what was going on was subluxation of my shoulders. Since I haven't had any injuries, it's probably due to my double-jointedness. So, the ball slips partially out of the socket, and then back in (sometimes I have to give it a shove).

The very next day, I was playing racquetball with a really tough partner. I went for an ceiling shot (so my arm was up and behind the plane of my body) and swung forward HARD. Ka-POP! As I swung around, my right shoulder went out and right back into the socket. Yowsers! I was sore for a few minutes and then all was normal again.

The PTs told me I should do strengthening and pilates to prevent more injury. Good thing I have my own PT in the family! I better give her a call....and then find some free time to do some shoulder exercises. Come on over and we can do some planks together! FUN TIMES!
