Playing Hookey

We let the kids take a day off school last Friday so we could go to the waterpark Thursday evening and all day Friday. Yes, it's all indoors!

Zoe loved the idea of staying in the hotel room, and Thursday evening, while swimming and water-sliding, she kept asking, "Are we going to sleep in our new house? I'm going to share a bed with Guy! Can we go to our beds now?" Sadly, when we DID eventually go back to our beds, she wasn't very inclined to SLEEP in it right away. As for waterslides, it took a long time for her to forgive me for getting her to go down a big and twisty body-slide, in which she was unable to maintain a seated position and accidentally rolled over a few times. I'm still convincing her she can do it with a little practice. The little kiddie slides were a huge hit.

Guy was brave and went on the Hurricane ride (AKA Toilet-Flusher), but even his bravery couldn't defeat his low BMI and keep him warm forever. He was the biggest hot-tub advocate, and loved the lazy river, too.

Xander was game for anything and, being tall enough, went on every single slide to be ridden (especially the Twin Twisters, the Fantastic Voyage, and the Hurricane). He had lots of fun in the wave pool riding the waves as well as swimming underneath them. He begged and begged to go to the arcade, but sadly we didn't spend a whole lot of time there.

One thing we 'rents love about vacationing is visiting the Cheese Factory Restaurant - an all vegetarian offering! It's our Moosewood away from Ithaca, as it were. We went there both on Thursday and Friday night (I'm sure the kids would have chosen another place). Yum yumity yum. At a time when I'm not feeling much like cooking, and can never think of what to cook, the CFR inspired me again. I'm on the prowl for some good vegetarian cookin'! (The meals that taste best are ANY that are prepared by someone else! Want to come cook for me?) Until you get here, I've got the CFR cookbook to keep me going.
