Want to know some of my favorite birthday happenings? Well, I had the greatest restaurant dinner with my family, for one. I decided we should go out for Indian food, even though there was some question about whether that was a good choice with all the kids. But, not to worry! I was amazed that everyone sat at the table (and stayed seated the entire meal), politely tasted all of the items we ordered, and conversed amicably. I let the kids order what they wanted and we shared the dishes family-style. They tried everything and ate well. The restaurant staff liked our nice family so much that when Tiny woke up (she'd been napping on my shoulder for 15 minutes), they brought her a freebie mango lassie.
This is the best part...another couple having dinner came over to our table on their way out. The husband said, "sorry to interrupt...we just wanted to say how much we enjoyed seeing your dear precious family here. Those days fly by!" They chatted with us for a few minutes, and when I told the server we were not ordering dessert, he brought out some small samples of mango ice cream to the kids anyway.
It was a dream dinner-date! Now, the big question, that I haven't asked because I don't want to know, is: did my husband threaten or bribe those kids, or were they JUST that FABULOUS? Oh, I am already excited about my next birthday, and you don't hear us ladies saying that often.
