A few weeks ago, Guy misplaced his winter coat, purchased in the fall. I sent him to school with his coat from last year; you know, the kind with an inner shell that zips in, only the zipper is broken so he only wears the outer shell. Then he mysteriously misplaced that one, too, and I sent him with another lightweight hand-me-down jacket.
When I saw his PE teacher in passing, she mentioned, "Oh, Guy went snow-shoeing today with only sneakers on. Where are his boots?" Hm, well the boots are here, but the linings have been pulled out and lost somehow. Dang.
I told him, "Honey, when I was a girl, not only did we NOT get to go snow-shoeing for PE, AND I had to walk to school both ways, but I never lost my boots or coat or gloves. And anyway, where are the two pairs of gloves I bought for you in the fall?"
I was just really excited for spring to arrive so I could stop worrying about snow clothes for a few months. And then it did seem like spring was on the way - we had some warm days! I went to the gym and found one of Guy's coats on the coat rack. Snow melted a bit more. The road no longer seemed to be paved with ice cream. Blades of grass started to peek through. And sleeves of coats! While playing at the neighbor's house, Guy noticed his newish winter coat buried in a quickly melting snow drift. He rescued it and I put it through the washer and dryer last night.
Just in time, too. This morning I woke up to another Christmas-y wonderland. I went out early to run the snow blower. At least the kids have coats to wear today, yay! And we can be glad that..
KA-CHUNK RaaaaRRRH! !
Oh, golly. The snow blower just ate the paper. How could I have missed it under only 5 inches of snow? I'm glad it was the skinny Wednesday paper and not the fat Sunday paper. And moreover, I'm glad it wasn't the missing winter coat.
