Cowards and Shepherds

Five Deep thoughts on a Friday:

When the cat's away, the mouse thinks, "Can someone remind me why I decided to get a cat?"

Eleven months is not going to be long enough. I'm pretty sure I never want to handle my Christmas ornaments and string lights again.

We've just experienced the six degrees of separation: that is, the six degrees of separation between home and school when my kids woke up and asked, "Mom, is school cancelled!?" and I told them, "No, it is only negative twenty-four degrees, and school is open unless it drops below negative thirty degrees. (Smiling sweetly) Remember to pull your scarf over your face."

Mom: "Once upon a time there was a shepherd who decided to go on an adventure to the city. Zoe, do you know what a shepherd is? He takes care of sheep, and herds them to where they need to go. That's why he's a sheep-herd, a shepherd."
Zoe: "Oh, and a coward takes care of cows!"
(I think my cousins in Wyoming won't like to hear that assessment)

After changing Clementine's stinky diaper and setting it off to the side, I noticed Zoe getting a concerned look as she realized that I would probably ask her to carry it to the trash for me.
Zoe, defensively: "You change it, you buy it!!"
