Twelve Percent Chance

Last week I took Zoe to her preschool (it's run by the school district, once each week, and we moms stay to help our child,) she had a chance to paint with tempera paint.

Wow! It wasn't messy :) There were four colors. Each cup had a small amount with a paintbrush... and the kids did a great job painting without creating a disaster.

At home I have a really old supply of paints that I bought when X was still in preschool. We used them a few times, but I think my fear of things getting out of hand has kept them in the closet. The supply is large because I bought the economical big bottles of powdered tempera paint...you know, if I mixed it all up at once I'd have a gallon of each color!

So, today I decided we could paint our valentine cards. I got out the paints, mixed 'em up, and added brushes. I told the kids I was still a little nervous to see just how messy this was going to get.

Xander set my mind at ease, (and gave me a laugh) when he said, "You know mom, there's only a twelve percent chance that Zoe will spill her paint cup."

His math was spot on! No spills, and lots of fun were had.
