To answer a request for a snowy story:
Once upon a time there was a little family in a snowy place. One morning, Mom woke up and peeked out the windows to see ten inches of snow on the ground. She roused the kids and told them, "up and at 'em, kids! It's time for homeschool."
Although the kids usually attended public school, they knew they would enjoy a full curriculum of homeschool if it was a snowy day. Since this was the second snow day already, and Christmas hadn't even come, everyone knew that school was either going to run until June 25th, or that the school days would be lengthened by 10 minutes/day in the spring to make up for the lost time.
While the kids ate breakfast and did some morning exercises and games, Dad got as much work done at home as he could. He had a meeting at noon, however... and began to make a plan for escaping the snow-enclosed fortress. First, he used the snowthrower to clear off the driveway and sidewalks in front of the house. Then he came in to thaw out his hands and feet. Next, he attempted driving down the road backwards, really fast (which was how he managed to escape the unplowed road on the last snowy day).
His plan didn't work! The car was stuck fast in the deep snow at the end of the driveway. Dad didn't give up. He was determined to be punctual. He go the snowthrower out again and carved a path IN THE ROAD for TWO BLOCKS to the main road. He came in to thaw his hands and feet for a few minutes, then hopped in the car and successfully charged through the deep snow and made it to his meeting on time!
The kids did all their work and went sledding and shoveling for physical education. Mom made some hot bread for everyone to snack on afterward. The end.
