This morning I was getting kids ready for school and Clementine was sitting at the counter with a pair of scissors. She wanted to practice on something, and the Easter lilies were nearby, so she pulled of a leaf and began to snip it into shreds. I figured no real harm was being done (those flowers are on the way out anyway) and she was being quiet, so I left her to it.
Ten minutes later she came crying to me, telling me that she had a leaf up her nose. I peeked in there, and sure enough, she'd put a shard up the left nostril, but it was in so deep I couldn't figure out how to reach it. I tried tweezers, but it seemed that I was only going to push it deeper, so I made an appointment to see the pediatrician. Meanwhile, Tiny was crying and fussing so dramatically (great sobs! big tears! huge sniffs!) that she snorked it all the way back and swallowed it. That made her mad, but afterward she said, "I'm all better now! The leaf went down my mouth!" So, I called back and cancelled the appointment.
All in a morning of adventure here at chez Weibel.
