The FAMILY Baby

Guy is very gentle.
She's accustomed to a crowd.
Zoe puts a hat on...
woops!
All better.
One day old!

When I see people, they usually ask the main questions. "How are you feeling? How is she sleeping? How are the other kids adjusting?"

I'm feeling Fab-u-lous (this has been the best recovery ever), she slept really well (last night anyway...10:00 PM to 5:30 AM!!), and I think the other kids really like her!

With regards to Zoe being ousted from the position of youngest, I've told many people, "It's no coincidence that MOTHERING and SMOTHERING only differ by one letter." Zoe has a tendency to do the latter while attempting the former. She loves to pick Clementine up, force a pacifier into her mouth (while she's sleeping, even), touch her face, and give her hugs that usually get hair in her mouth. She loves, loves, loves having a baby around (and she loves sneaking a few sucks on the pacifier whenever she can get away with it.) When Clementine cries, Zoe is quick on the scene, soothing her and cooing, "Don't worry...I'm here, I'm here."

The other day Clementine was fussing, and I told Zoe that she could NOT hold her right then because she needed ME to feed her. Zoe retorted, "She's NOT YOUR baby!" and I answered, "Well, she is my baby..." and Zoe corrected me, "She's NOT. She's a FAMILY BABY and you have to share!" (This is the exact argument I use with most of the toys in our home!)
