Last Fall the elementary school had an auction to raise money. Local business donated gift certificates and goods, and certificates for goods. Parents donated services. There was a big party, and folks bid on the items.
I really feel I did my part to bring in a truckload this year, but not all of my purchased services have been claimed....hmmmm.
So far, the "2 private swimming lessons, 30-minutes long" and the "Your party of 8 will enjoy an Indian cooking lesson and subsequent dinner" have been claimed. The juggling lessons, fair-isle knitting lessons, and paper-piece quilting lessons have not been claimed.
So now, at the end of the month, our church congregation is planning to have a service auction, just for fun...and also we get a chance to be uplifted by serving each other. I remember years ago when I won a lesson on how to play the church organ but never claimed it (probably the safest thing...I could have been roped into becoming the organist,) as well as a guitar lesson I never claimed (uh...I also don't own a guitar). I do recall all the ladies fighting to see who would bid highest and win the massage from a trained sister, so I hope the winner of that one claimed it.
As the day approaches, I'm brainstorming about what I'll ante up. It would be nice if it's something that I want to do anyway (crafty maybe?) and would enjoy some company while doing. Then we are all winners.
Oh, I've got it! I'm going to offer to "Teach you the shim-sham, with Gina's Lindy Hop Dance-party CD Included." Maybe you'll bid? Here's a teaser.
